Anne de Latour Hopper, Artist
Anne was born in the Province of Brittany in France. She studied the art of bookbinding and gold stamping in Paris at the Decorative Arts School. In 1974, she came to work in New York City restoring rare books. It is at that time that she started studying watercolors at the Art Students League and continued to work in that medium for the next twelve years.
It was in Buffalo, NY that she was introduced to the art of classic realism by John Yerger. She studied with John in oils for three years, then followed that with further studies at the Partners in Art Studio with Joan Horn.
From 1999 until 2005, she attended classes at the McGuffey Art Center in Charlottesville with the artist Jane Larew, and most recently, Marion Reynolds and Rich Weaver.
Anne continues her education by attending regular workshops around the U.S. and Europe. These include: en plein air, Provence, France; Hudson Valley River Art workshop with Stanley Matzman [drawing and pastel], Paul Leveille [portraiture in both oils and pastels], Charles Movalli [landscapes], Albert Handell and Gil Dillenger [landscapes in pastels], Hongnian Zhang [people in landscapes in oils].
Anne works primarily in oils and pastels. She has had several solo shows and has won several awards. She has placed her paintings with private collectors around the world, including Japan, New Zealand, and France.
Her works were also acquired in 2005 by the Martha Jefferson Hospital Facility and the Cancer Center at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.
